Yes, we have this vehicle, we have to drive it. ask us anything.

Spacious inside?
Power delivery?
Interior quality?

Can it do good hand brake turns?

If you put it in reverse at 50 mph what happens?
![]() 12/27/2015 at 19:30 |

how far can you jump it
![]() 12/27/2015 at 19:30 |

No, its generally useless as it has a foot hand brake.

Are you anywhere near Santa Fe, NM?

How good is it at jumping curbs?

Double tapper or with a release handle?
![]() 12/27/2015 at 19:34 |

Relatively spacious, enough for four adults to travel comfortably. Seats are uncomfortable though. Power delivery is laughable, we have a 2.4l “sport” awd model and it feels like it will die going up the mountains in Vermont. Interior quality is on par for the segment, lots of hard plastics, and mediocre interior materials.

double tapper

Don’t know, didn’t buy the extra insurance.

Better than the Honda CR-V I rented a couple years ago? We drove it through a rainstorm out to Exit 63 on Long Island, and it was planted and confidence inspiring in the heavy rain.

Tahoe had to go back last week. Also all posts/replies before now were Travis, that dirty laptop stealer with poor grammar.

Over that mountain.

It was fine in the rain, and I took it through some curvy sections of Vermont 11, 7, etc in nasty rain today and last night.

Do you think it’s good enough to be one to consider if you’re shopping in this segment?

sorry our snow sucks so much this winter. Where in VT?

Does the throttle calibration fall into one of the two typical Hyundai camps of jumpy and lethargic?
![]() 12/27/2015 at 19:59 |
|
Outside of Manchester. The lack of snow must be killer in that whole area :(
![]() 12/27/2015 at 19:59 |
|
Definitely lethargic, especially if ‘eco mode’ is engaged.
![]() 12/27/2015 at 20:01 |

Kind of. Generally it wasn’t that bad to drive, which is the kindest thing that can be said about a Hyundai.

Can’t say I personally would consider it, but if one’s priorities were fuel efficiency and AWD in a cheap midsize SUV, you might as well look at it.

tru dat

Yeah. We have a 2013 Sonata. It’s not bad, except for the fact that it feels like someone replaced at least 50% of the brake fluid with nitrogen O.o
![]() 12/27/2015 at 20:51 |
|
Yeah. Our Sonata falls into the “Jumpy” category. It has immediate throttle response, but then falls on its face around 2800 RPM.

Rented one a month or so ago. I’ve been meaning to do an opporeview. Was pleasantly surprised. Or not totally disappointed...

To clarify, you rented a two-row 2.4L Santa Fe Sport? How’s the ride? Additionally, do you think that the forward visibility is somewhat compromised by the sideview mirrors’ positioning?
![]() 12/28/2015 at 10:53 |
|
Yep, 2 row 2.4l AWD sport model, mirrors don't bother me, but Yamahog says they impede her view.

My folks have a top-trim 2.0T - I’ve found that the mirrors can impede visibility on inclines (on a particular intersection where we’re inclined uphill and the road we’re turning left onto is inclined uphill in that same direction, the right mirror is positioned right where we need to be looking for oncoming traffic). The turbo motor makes good power, though it seems peaky IMO (but I have little experience with turbo engines).
I can never find a consistently comfortable position in the seats (which also have pleather-swathed rocks for headrests).
The ride is the worst of all three cars that we own - it doesn’t take well to road imperfections and speed bumps at all, while our 2004 Accord V6 (which may need some suspension work LOL) copes with that stuff better and our 2012 Focus SE handles it all amazingly IMO.
